Scattered across a warm marigold ground are small butas in rose-pink and red with fine flowering vines running between them. Each buta was woven in on the loom by hands of an earlier age with little wooden tojis while the talim set out the colours. The pattern gives way to a deep plain marigold end and a fine fringe. Worn here by a man over white the Pashmina falls in easy folds from both shoulders and is warm and very light. It is bright and generous and wholly its own — a shawl to wear through the cold months and one day to hand on. One of one.
