Every line on this stole begins with the kalam. Each motif is drawn on the Pashmina with that fine pen and coloured by hand and then filled with needlework that lifts it from the cloth. Large butas in rose and lilac unfold across a yellow ground with feathered leaves and flowering stems between them. A striped end closes the design. Worn here over black the colour glows and the stole falls light and warm from one shoulder. Bright and unmistakably hand made it carries two months of patient work in every fold.
